clarity not touched. Went slightly ham on the high pass in the foreground, changed a bunch of other stuff (started from scratch).
I would tone back the high pass then, clarity is not a bad thing, but you gotta keep it under like 40 at most IMO. This looks a bit weird color wise, and the edges definitely have that "crunch" that we don't want...

i think i'm going to go buy my 17-40 back tomorrow. i really miss having a wide angle. I uwa lenses. The only thing that makes me sad about them is that you have to be right THERE where the action is to make them work right, and that's not always possible. And very occasionally, the perspective distortion will ruin a shot - but usually it doesn't. Funny that you guys are talking about this. I got some Amazon gift cards for my birthday and I've been browsing UWA's all week. Anyone tried the Rokinon FE14M-C 14mm F2.8? I'm curious.
So, I pulled the trigger on the Rokinon 14mm f2.8. Results from the first shoot were pretty good.
Thoughts:
- There's definitely some vignetting in the corners on a full frame. Honestly, it really made the sky look better and not worse. - The distortion....is what it is. It helps some shots, totally fucks others. This is not supposed to be an all-around lens, so I don't think I can complain too much. - I found a Lightroom profile for lens correction. It does a good job lightening up the corners. It does an OK job with the distortion. Honestly, on some shots it looked worse with the correction. That might just be the profile, so again, not too much complaint from me. - The manual focus thing is a little tricky. A lot of people online say to put it at infinity and just leave it. That doesn't work so well. I just need to slow down when using it, again not a big deal.
Overall, I'm pretty happy. For the money, it's really useful, tack sharp (when properly focused) and the build quality is actually better than I expected. This isn't L glass, but it's really not bad.

Cool shot. Focusing is indeed a bitch, the viewfinder looks sharp pretty much all the time.

Rokinon puts out some good shit...love the photo above (but then again, I like wide angle shots)
People think they need $2k lenses to get good shots. Nope.

Na Pali hike (it can be a multi-day trek if you want it to be), Waimea Canyon (the road in is spectacular, how I wish I hadn't been in an Altima), and for just bumming around, Hanalei was my favorite, very laid back. We did a boat tour of the coast, it's pretty cool too. Poke is awesome and cheap, I'd do that for lunch and make a picnic on the beach instead of hitting the restaurants. Luaus are touristy but actually pretty cool.

No Individual HSL adjustments. My post processing is weak at best. It's one area I really hope to work on this year, I feel like my stuff never pops and could be so much better.

Testing the xpro1 with some table top stuff. Battery died before I could dial in the setup unfortunately.

I think we'll be doing a tubing thing as that should be easy on my wife's neck, I really want to hike or kayak to a waterfall. That's something I won't soon get the opportunity to do again. The canyon is on my list too.

We kayaked the Waimea river, it was fun, our tour guide was a trip. He was playing with a spider slightly smaller than my hand like it was a hamster or something, freaked me the shit out.
