Got a mile race coming up today. Four man relay, each run a mile. Me, my wife and two guy friends. Not sure how fast I'll be able to go... Had a soccer game last night, about to play one this morning and then have the race 4 hours later.

If I get a 7 minute mile, I will be ecstatic lol slow \:\(

Just finished an 18 mile run. Longest one by 3 miles, and did it in 2:28 (8:14 average pace).

Woot woot!

Nice totals man!

[Edit: Wait. i just realized 18,900 yards is like TEN MILES and change. nearly 11. DAMN!]

new 5k record for me today. Kinda cool, kinda makes me angry. I wanted sub-30s, BAD.

31:09. Spent a 10th of a mile running and puking up coffee. No fuckin' bueno. Woulda been high 30:00s if not for that. Of course it happened right around the 3 mile mark, where the people who'd already finished could look disgusted as i made a spectacle of myself. \:\(

So yeah, good time, bad experience.

Official results are official.

Sumbitch. Still not a 29.xx, but not a 31 either. I'll take it.

This just in, these shoes fucking rock (Nike Free Run+):

Finally started running again for the first time since, shit, 8 months ago, something like that. Last two runs were each 5+ miles at around an 8 minute/mile pace, so not too bad considering I'm just now getting back into the swing of things. I recently moved and am now able to run along the lakefront; it's a hell of a lot less boring than running through a neighborhood.

Oh, and Mr. Mom, great job, bro. Just saw your April totals, wow!!!

I ran my first marathon yesterday. I didn't do as good as I wanted but it's over with. I haven't uploaded the garmin yet but I know I slowed down around mile 16, I had some stomach issues and thought about just bailing.

Good job - I would be totally happy with sub 4:00 for a first marathon. My wife has run two and wants me to run one with her, so I might do my first one late next year.

Five mile run this morning. Cold and legs were just a little tired from this weekend's bike races. 9:00/mile even.

Nice job Mike! Sub 4 for your first, especially coming off your recent injuries is pretty damn studly. I'd take that any day.

Honestly, not too bad. A little tired, and my feet are a tad sore, but way less than I was expecting it be. That will be my longest run prior to the Ironman. Next week will be a 15, and the following a 13, then it's a 3 week taper...so just short easy runs.

I'm feeling ready.

Ran the ROC race in Del Mar on Saturday. It was a 5k obstacle course similar to the warrior dash. Finished 63 out of 1139 with a time of 28.33. Drinking before didn't help my time but it made it more fun.

Thanks man....that's the plan.

Just did an easy 12.5 mile run at a 7:46 pace. Felt great. I realized during it that I have ran 52.5 miles in the last 6 days. Dang. How things can change in a year.

Anybody else still training? I had a pretty epic May:

Swim: 19000 yards

Bike: 568 miles

Run: 170 miles

I'm already at 40 miles running for the week, and still have a 13-15 miler planned for sunday.

The big day is only 23 days away!

ran my first run since my surgery over two months ago

4.10miles at a 10min/mile pace

saw a bit of blood from the incision site(still have a pencil lead sized hole there but everything else is closed and healed) but the run felt damned good

Week totals:

Swim: 10000 yards

Bike: 148 miles

Run: 51.1 miles.

Conventional wisdom says I should start my taper this week (3 weeks till race day), but I thinks thats a bit too long. I'm going to hit this week pretty hard and then start easing back next week.

So close I can taste it!

So I ran the marathon the other day, finished in 4 hours and 30 minutes because I fucking ran 2 extra miles.

I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and ended up on the half-marathon course which took me on an extra 2 mile loop before it met back up with the marathon course.

So I ran 28.2 miles in 4 hours and 30 minutes. I like to think if I wasn't a retard I would have hit my goal.

Well I'm laid up again Just when I started to feel good training again.

I had a little slip and fall at a Duathlon on Sunday. It was a 2mi run 10mi bike 2mi run. It was just after the first mile on the first run that I tripped over something and fell on my right knee. I didn't think it was that bad so I kept going. It really didn't hurt until the race was over.

After the race I went right to the doc where they said there wasn't any skin left to put stitches in. I have to go back tomorrow to see if they are going to do a skin graph.

On a positive note I finished 1 min quicker than last year. Another bummer is that even though I'm 34 now I jumped into a different age group. I would have finished 1st in 30-34 but ended up 6th in 35-39 Finished up 21st overall.

First run 13:56
Bike (with T1 & T2) 33:22
Second run 15:21
Finish Time 1:02:39

My knee is healing quicker than I thought.

I jumped in to another Duathlon yesterday. I wanted to to the Tri but my knee-cap is still one big scab and bruised, I didn't think is was good to get in the water.

It went pretty good, the first 5k was really flat, I felt strong but didn't want to go to hard before the bike. I had 8 guys in front of me going into T1.

T1 was horrible, I forgot to unclip my helmet and open the straps on my shoes

The 20k bike was great, glass flat and fast except for a section of strong head winds (the course was along Lake Erie) that dropped my speed a good 6-7mph. I only caught 1 of the guys in front of me on the bike.

T2 was pretty flawless, got out of my bike shoes before even entering the trans area.

The second 5k was the same loop as the first. It was little rough the knee pain came back. So did the sun and lack of fluids I took in on the bike(I thought one bottle of electrolyte mix and 1 gel would be enough guess not) At the water stop it was 1 cup of Heed for me and 2 waters over my head. I was struggling big time.

5k 21:45
T1 01:02
Bike 41:46
T2 00:48
5k 24:25

I finished 3rd in my Age Group and 6th Overall

I've been busy with work and moving, so hardly cycling or running.

We are running the Rock N Roll half marathon in Chicago this Sunday. We've not really trained since the wife is pregnant. Her OB approves of her participating, but wants her to alternate between 30 minutes of running and 15 minutes of walking. So that's what we'll do. We've done a couple of longer runs with that routine and will be fine.

Then I've got the MS 150 in September and need to spend some time on the bike prior to that.
