man..the Carlsbad 5000 is an awesome race. Tons of people, lots of pros show up, awesome course. I did it about 4 years ago and loved it.

Hmm might have to show up then... See if I can beat this time from last week.

Well it looks like I'm down for another week, just got back from the doc's and patellar tendinitis strikes again. Damn hill repeats are the devil.

Good news is that he said I'll be fine for the Cleveland Marathon in May. I just might have to rethink my goal time.

Forgot about f'in shin splints. Yeah, I'll stick with a Mile for at least the next week or two Crazed. Don't imagine I'll start getting sore until tomorrow or Sunday. Weekends are going to be my rest days. On call every third weekend and I'll be extremely unreliable anyway. Should have probably waited until Monday to start

So my excitement for the week.... marginally less slow. i seem to have gotten myself back to about where i was before I hurt myself in November... maybe sliightly quicker.

First time in months i've gotten 3 miles down in less than 30 minutes. 28:45.

Had a great workout day yesterday:

5 mile run
1 hour trainer ride
1.9 mile swim for time (55:50, which is a 1:42/100yd pace and will put me at 1:12 for the IM swim. I can live with that.

Plan on repeating the same workouts today, but 4 mile run.

2 miles -- 6:24 pace

Shaving off 1 minute per mile pace was easy. Now it's getting difficult...

First solid run since I had patellar tendinitis. We did a nice trail run. 6.25mi
at a pace of 8:36. The knee feels pretty solid.

Currently posting from an ice bath after running 15 miles at an 8:13 pace. Felt pretty effortless actually. Surprising since it's my longest run ever by 2 miles.

Work took me out of town last week and have only gotten one run in recently. Easy 3.5 miles in about 30 minutes with a couple of good hills thrown in.

Also haven't been on the bike since racing just over a week ago. Now that work is out of the way, I plan to get a good hard trainer ride in tonight and run tomorrow morning. Focus will be on cycling over the next four weeks. Hope to get about ten hours per week in on the bike and throw in about two runs per week for cross training.

Still letting the legs recover from my long run on sunday, so it's been an hour on the trainer followed later in the day with a 1.2 mile swim the last two days. We'll see how the knee feels tomorrow.

I will be getting my new running shoes (a second pair of my favorites) as well as some new tri specific cycling shoes (Bont Sub-10's) and IU'm really excited about those.

6.25 miles at 8:50 pace tonight. Nothing special, but my longest run in about a six weeks and my legs were a bit fatigued from last night's cycling workout, so I'll take it.

Nice.

Pretty good day for me yesterday. Did an easy 3 mile run just to test the knee (need a bit more RICE), then did an hour on the trainer, and swam 3000 yards in 48:00 in the pool last night.

Even better: I got both of these in the mail yesterday:

Bont Sub 10 cycling/triathlon shoes and another pair of the KSwiss Blade Light Run's. The Bonts are heat moldable and make for an awesome fit.

Did a 5 mile run this morning, then because my wife got off work early, I was able to do a 30 mile ride outside instead of my normal 20 on the trainer. Fantastic ride, and the weather was perfect.

I'm at 110 miles for the week, and I still need to do a long ride or two. Hoping to top out at 200 miles for the week.

I decided last minute to sign up for a 10 mile race this morning. It ended up going pretty good except for some shoe lace issues (they came undone twice). Over all happy with the race and the knee feels strong.

Finished right around 1:12:xx
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/80967438

I hit the lap button instead of the stop.

So I did it!!!
my time was 33:20....why so slow?

cuz most of the field got lost lol!

It was pouring rain this morning and it washed away the markings so we all
just followed the runner in front. My gps showed 3.8 miles or 6.1km

I figure i would have finished at 26ish. Im glad i did it tho. Had some killer hills too.

Rode 70 miles this morning. FRont derailleur broke, and had a flat, but overall it was a great ride.

58 miles running or walking this month so far.

I run by myself and walk when I bring the gf.

I'd like to 100 miles in may.

Just getting back into the swing of things lately. Finished up a 14 mile run in 1:51:xx. About a 7:55 pace. Felt great after wards, it was only 12 seconds off of my half marathon pace a little more than a month ago. I don't think during training for my half I was ever able to push my pace like I did today.

Next Saturday, I have 16 miles, so we will see how that goes.

Another good start to the week. The kids are on spring break this week, so its a bit of a struggle getting my workouts in, but I'm managing. Yesterday I ran 4, rode an hour on the trainer, and swam 2100yds in the pool.

Less than 7 weeks before I start my 2 week taper before Ironman Couer d Alene on June 26th.

Break in the rain this evening allowed time for a run. Wife and I went out and ran 10 miles at 9:08 per mile. Felt like we had more in the tank when we were done.

This morning I rode an hour on the trainer. Now I just got back from running to the pool, doing my swim workout, then running home.

3.1 miles: 21:48
1500 yards: 24:30
2.5 miles: 19:40

That first 5k is a PR for me. That's a 7:02 average pace, but the breakdown was this:
Mile 1: 7:14
Mile 2: 6:58
Mile 3: 6:57
.1: 6:45

Pretty stoked. \:\)
