I got mine done last night and it came out great, put the stock radio back in place and thank god for the factory pocket the other one sucked. I about lost all the skin on my hand when ever I tried to use it. It is weird to get used to the factory position headunit not being the one that controls everything. Plus since I have the blue LED alpine it was a little bright in the dash.
Really great post thanks for the resource.

Yes you can. My good friend has his stock head unit and hios aftermarket up there. His aftermarket is a hide away model. When its off it flips around and looks like nothing is there so if you glance in his window all you see is his factory head unit.
I put a VAFC in my 99-00 Si, where the accessory tray is behind the cup holders. If you all want info, let me know. I made it out of carbon, if you want pics, let me know, i'll be glad to email them.
Here's my old setup. BTW, you don't need a cd changer if you have an MP3 player. I had over 130 songs on one disc. For me that was plenty, to not have to change a disc...lol

For anybody wanting to know, here are the real Honda part numbers:
77230-s01-a03za cup holder assy $26.05 77293-s04-000za fr panel radio surround $9.06 77296 -s04-000zz bracket R Fr console $13.04 77297 -s04-000zz bracket L Fr console $13.04
But does anybody know the part # for the 99-00 radio block off plate. I think it is 77240-s0x-a00zb but have not ordered this part so dont know for sure.
you can barely see it. But its down there. I put my Tape deck in its place. (it is not din sized, the gap for the AC controls) which allowed space for my DIY dvd holder. Now I have a WRX radio inside. Submergered real half ass hanging by zipties (cause it is double din) and my civic is 98 so I dont have double din. But my DVD holder still works.
man i just want to thank you guys for this thing. first thing i did to the civic when i got it as my daily driver. looks GREAT. and yeah i have had it that way for a couple weeks, and i still try and turn off the old head unit.

the side brackets is use to mount the deck, there are screw holes that you can screw in some screws to hold up the deck. the front surrounding part is bolt on to the car and the brackets is bolted on to the surrounding part.
Quote: do you really need the surround and the brackets? i mean the brackets would make it easier but paying 13 bucks for one isn't cool with me

If you dont want to GHETTO do it and you want to prevent the CD player from skipping as much I reccommend you pick them up.
But it is possible not get them I had my CD player in without them before and when it got ripped off I remember that it skipped a lot so I bought the brakcets this time around.
i have a 96 civic and my car does not have the rotary bottons. instead it has the push buttons of the climate control. does anyone know the part number for a single din block off plate? i have tried 5 hondas within my area and all they can tell me is the picture shows for it on the computer, but no part number is available. any help would be greatly appreciated.
