Well, after you all know, after taking 4 days off, I turned around and ran my best 1.64 mile time, in a total of 16:43 and shaving off 1:03 in the process. I thought to ease back into things and do the best for my legs so since then Ive taken two night off, and Ill be back at it tomorrow. Can't wait!
-Matt
I took that 16:43 and said SHOVE IT! I ran the 1.64 mile loop in an awesome (for me) 15:30. I know Ive been seeing 1:00+ time improvements, but that is going to be slowing down now after this time. Ill still be able to improve, but not nearly as fast. I didn't walk near as much and I even threw in a ~40 yd uphill sprint. Im SO pumped!
-Matt

Hit 2 miles on the treadmill at a relaxed pace (~10 mile miles). First time I've done any sort of cardio in months...been slacking off badly in that dept lately.

For a beginner, a 10:00 pace isn't bad at all. That's what Im hovering around right now myself.
-Matt
Well, not really a beginner per se. I've played sports since I was a wee one (soccer) so I've built up a bit of endurance and seem to keep some of it even if I don't run regularly.
BTW, knocked out 3 miles today at the same pace.

Yesterday during Muay Thai we played a lil soccer game with a old school medocine ball. then the normal class followed by BJJ, I was tired as shit yesterday. I'd like to get some good biking or some other cardio in on Saturday.

Raced this weekend, "night" (7pm) race in 95 degree heat.
http://www.strictlyrunning.com/results/08Hot.txt http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6436317
BLITZED my old PR - time was 20:44. My splits were 6:15 (!!!), 6:38 (!!), and 6:52 (boo). I think that on a cooler day I could have done 3 of the 6:15... looking forward to the fall! My stretch goal is to drop under 20 minutes by the end of the year, which would make me a very fast casual runner or a very slow serious runner.

ran 1.5 at the high school track at what i would consider 9/10ths pace for me right now. quite the battle with the heat and humidity, but the challenge is half the fun

I weighed about 180 then and about 150 now. I'm still the heaviest guy running my kind of times in races - the guys that are finishing around me are all super lean six pack types. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing
I've been a little lucky. With my frame I never would have guessed I could be a quick runner but I think I'll be in the 19 minute range - and definitely under 20 - before it's all said and done.

right now I'm just using my training days as cardio, but since I hurt my groin and hip, I'm going to have to cut down on some stuff til it's better

Good god man...under 20mins is GREAT times for any 5k run. I've crosstraining and kickboxing over 15years now. And I can say my best time is right between 20-22mins. anything under 18mins is just awesome imo.

Awesome 5k time man. How long have you been running? Going under 20 would be a great accomplishment.
I started training a little more than a month ago for a 5k coming up at the end of the month. While training the fastest 5k I've ran is 23.10, I hope to take it under 22 for the race.
