I usually like to put the grid on and rotate bit by bit until I line things up.

Hi everyone, I wanted to kinda introduce myself to this part of the forum. My name is Jeremy and I have spent the last 8 years pretty much solely on the OT forum however have wanted to start posting in the "one pic a day" thread over here. I have recently gotten back into photography as a hobby after taking 4 years off from it. A little background about me...
I went to school with DSPhoto (Doug) at RIT and graduated with him in 2004. I went on to shoot for myself doing everything from portraits to commercial, editorial and weddings. I grew tired of the freelance route and always chasing a paycheck, paying for my own health insurance, etc so I eventually got picked up by a company shooting college sororities and frats across the country. After a few years of traveling the country and shooting the hell out of my Canon 1dMk2 i finally got burnt out and gave it ALL up... (even sold all my pro gear  )
Fast forward to today, I've now been a police officer here in the NOVA area for going on 4 years now. About a month ago i finally realized it was just "time" to get back into photography. It truly is one of my greatest loves and passions in life. 
Please bare with me as i do not have a Flickr account yet and will be posting from photobucket until i take the time to set that up. i dont think i have any particular "style" when it come to my shots and i love shooting all types of subjects. A small note for everyone to know if that i am massively colorblind so please excuse any odd color balancing you might see in my images. i try my best to get it right but i do realize that sometimes its off and i would never be able to tell lol 
Currently I'm shooting with a Canon 60D, 18-135 kit lens and a 50 1.4. I have CS5 for my editing.
Thanks for hearing me out and I look forward to sharing my work as well as continuing to see all the amazing shots that all of our CSI photographers keep posting! Some AMAZING talent in here guys and gals
And i suppose i should kick it off with my pic for today...

I guess i should add that i just got a new 23in LED monitor from Samsung and i have not had a chance to calibrate it yet with a Spyder, etc. So any feedback on whether my images are too dark or light would be helpful to on your guy's calibrated monitors, etc.
I can tell you that my Macbook screen is TOTALLY diff than my LED samsung lol

Thanks for the input, ill give it a try. i know right now my brightness setting is like waaaaay down at like 17 (out of 100) lol
Are you using the NVIDIA control panel? My brightness is 25%, contrast 52% and gamma is 1.4
YMMV

welcome...it's good to step away for awhile when you're burned out. looking forward to seeing your work. i almost went to RIT, but ended up choosing sunny weather instead

Thanks for the welcome I'm so excited to be shooting again. I have so much work i've produced in the past few weeks but ill save you all from overload and keep to the one a day rule lol.
Ill have to look for the Nvidia software cd which is probably in my box from the monitor.

My buddy was dj'ing last night in DC, so i paid him a visit. They wouldn't allow me to use my flash so I had to crank the ISO up to 6400 and shoot as wide open and as still as possible. Then I had to pp the hell out of the pics.

I think they still look great dude! i like the grainy/rough effect in a club scene anyways. Good stuff!
and scooter, ill disregard everything haha. you had me pulling my hair out trying to find that damn disc!!! lol
