Thanks man, I saw 9 that day. Although this 7D MK II is pissing me off, it hunts for focus so much in AI Servo mode it's always either front or back focusing. My old 70D and my 100-400mm were super sharp right out of the box. I'm going to try FoCal on it and see if I can make some microadjustments that help, if not it's off to Canon for calibration.

WWII Museum - New Orleans
The flags behind the glass are from ships in the Pacific. Reflecting in the glass is an image of a Japanese boy from a film playing in the next room about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I though the combined image was interesting.

Amazing shot Trench. I love the Alaska pictures Skierd. Sounds like you have the right friend for your hobby, taking you around in a helicopter.
There is this medium sized tree in my mother's backyard. It blooms every year or so. When it does, it is chock full of bees. The whole tree buzzes. I need to find out what kind of tree it is. But anyway, it is fun to go out there and shoot the bees.

Trench, that is some sweet contrast and color. Any Milky Way work?
Here is my Milky Way attempt from last weekend. Rather uninteresting, but learning the technique to get ready for some July and August SoCal desert trips.
The shot was taken near Camp Pendleton in between Orange and San Diego counties.

Thanks and I like that MW Shot! Here's mine... First time ever SEEING the MW, let alone trying to shoot it. I only had one night at Arches so I feel confident that if I had more time, I would have done better and been more creative. I shot these with the 11-24L on my 5d3. The 11-24 is an f/4 lens, so I think next time I know I'm gonna shoot astro, I'll get the 24 1.4L or maybe they will have pricing for the new Sigma 14 1.8. Anyway, here's the pics...

That second one is fantastic in terms of MW rendering.
Do not buy Canon or Sigma for the sole/majority purpose of Astrophotography. If you really want to do Astro right, (with a DSLR), buy a Samyang/Rokinon/Bowers 14mm f/2.8 or 24mm f/1.4.
These lenses are known for superb astro work. The canon and sigma will create terrible coma on the sides and corners of the frame.
and subscribe and watch this guy's videos...

The Canons aren't that bad (taken with an EF-S 10-22mm)

Got a set of Vello Macro extension tubes ($79 for 3). Both are uncropped and converted to bw. 5d3 with 100 2.8L macro with +13 and +21 extension tubes. Coin had flash through a snoot at 45 degree angle. Guitar is natural light at 6400 ISO. So far I've learned that macro has its own set of challenges. Handheld is a mess, just exhaling can throw off focus majorly. Even at f/11 or f/22 your DOF is razor thin. And you can never get things clean enough...every...spec...of...dirt...
