I don't see any scenario where I average 22 mph on an hour ride. I just hope one my bike with regular fitness clothes and pedal though. I think last year I did 40k/25M at 19mph average.
20mph over 30 miles was my goal last year. i got oh so close, but it's a really tough threshold to cross. there were 2-3 hills that were killer

That's so fucking rad, Lewis!!! Congrats for doing it!!!
I dunno if I'm too much of a priss to sleep without showering/be that grubby for that long, but fuck, the rest of it sounds awesome. The rolling party thing sounds really appealing.
Awesome.

I'm going harder than planned this month in terms of mileage numbers. 110 last week and (depending on tomorrow's ride) another 110-130 this week.
I should hit 3000, which will be my highest YTD. Did 2800 last year and 2300 the year before.

Had a pretty nice weekend, did my first Pro Open XC race and finished 13th/30. Race was 28 miles and took me 2hrs 5 min. I was 11 min behind winner cameron dodge who got 5th at nationals in the pro class and raced UCI World Cup XC in mont saint anne and windham and also cole oberman who was 30 sec behind cam. they beat 3rd by 4 minutes, so i was only 6 min off the podium. not bad at all. i also won 60 bucks for the effort
today did a memorial gravil grand fondo for a friend who was hit and killed by a car many years ago. was 72 miles and 5K ft of climb. legs are toast. 13 hour week on the bike
next up is shenandoah 100 on sun!

RIP Annefleur Kalvenhaar. What a shitty freak accident.
I saw that on FB but didn't read the article. Too much of a bummer.
Did a very hilly 52 miles yesterday and a flat 18 today. PR'd my TT again last week. Might be the last one of the season.
Itching to get a cross bike. Might go super cheap and convert a mid-90's hybrid.

Bought an old mid-90's Diamondback hybrid off of CL today for $70. Gathered a few parts off of ebay (mini v-brakes, quill stem adapter) and I have some parts in my spare parts stash (bar/stem, Shimano R500 wheels, WTB Pure saddle), e-mailed someone on CL about cranks and a rear derailleur.
Looks like I'm well on my way to a beater CX bike.
Just need to track down some cheap 9-speed brifters. Maybe 8-speed. We'll see just how cheap I want to go.

Scored a Sora crankset/external BB (short doe--165mm), 9-speed cassette and a Suntour rear derailleur off of CL for $45. Once I get tires and shifters, I can piece this thing together.

9 hours of MTB is gnarly. I'm sore from reading it.
Looking forward to hearing about the upcoming CX race. There's a cyclocross park nearby ( https://www.facebook.com/RiverpointCyclocrossPark ) that just got up and running here. I think it's gonna help an already active local CX scene grow a shitload.
I'm gonna try to check it out on my MTB tomorrow, as they have a "group ride" in the evening. I want to meet some of the people in this scene. Can't promise that I'll race, but doing it as cross-training, especially in the cold weather, is a given.
More motivation to get that CX beater built. The bike will be a tank, but it should function as a decent CX/gravel setup for SHORT money.

Just won some old Shimano R600 9-speed brifters off of ebay for $52 shipped.
Now to get some tires and I'll start building this bitch!

I took a few laps of that cyclocross park on my MTB tonight. Kicked my ass. Some gnarly drops that will be much gnarlier on a CX bike, combined with the requisite off-the-bike hill-scaling. Nice mix of terrain--gravel climbs, flat-out doubletrack, soft dirt, steep descents, spread-out stairset, etc...
I was huffing and puffing like crazy after a lap of it. Looks like a serious training/conditioning option to mix things up--especially when it gets cold.
Great group of locals there, too. Looks like they're gonna grow a helluva scene with this park.

booo had my first DNF in 3 years today. Had a issue with wheels flexing/skewer shifting and rubbing the brake pads on my cx bike. i had a awesome call up, 13th out of 130, 2nd row. sucks. it was also 92 degrees with 70% humidity. My legs didnt have much pop, guessing from that hundred miler last sun, but didnt feel too bad overall though. didnt have the fire to hurt today. i had to stop twice in once lap to reset my wheel and lots tons of spots. i was going to at least finish but it was so fucking hot i said screw it and went and got a beer haha i pulled myself after 17min of a 45 min race. oh well shit happens. CX isnt my thing anyway so im not worried if i dont get results
