I cannot believe the winter miles you're throwing down, nato. Cray.
I did 31 slow miles yesterday. My fleece shell is apparently super un-aero. Raining out now, so I'm gonna bang out an hour on the trainer.

I think my mileage total is 2822 for 2013. (Not home to confirm). Got way stronger and built some solid base mileage. Overall pretty happy with my year on the bike.
Hoping to get faster this year. I'm so much stronger on the trainer this year vs. last, so it seems to be a good omen.

Here's the MapMyRide summary, although I think it might have included my (paltry) running miles in that total
That's a lot of calories.

Hmm $266 for a garmin edge 500, not bad I guess. But if I want cadence I have to buy a $55 cadence/speed sensor! Why the hell don't they offer just a simple cadence device, I don't need a damn speed sensor if i'm pairing it with a gps device.
it is nice for trainer workouts
and for mtb it is nice as some tight and twisty stuff doesn't always fair well with gps.

Just had the best trainer workout evAr. I got a Chromecast and finally set it up. Found some trainer vids on the youtubez. Did one in HD for about 15 min, but it got choppy, so I bailed. Then I found this 45 minute interval vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSFYRiqodvU
and it was fantastic!!! This was the first time I actually enjoyed being on the trainer. Felt really strong today, too, so that helped.
Very psyched about this. I really think I'll be hitting the road next season in some seriously good condition.

You are crazy dude, I need a riding buddy like you that's always motivated to ride and doesn't make excuses.
I did 2 trainer rides today. Had to do 2 separate rides, one in the morning and one this afternoon, I wouldn't be able to stand doing 2 hours continuous.

What benefit does the 510 have over the 500 for an extra $85? Just nicer interface?

I have some spinervals and carmichael training videos I can hook you up with. I also have a ton of sufferfest videos but I paid for them
Edit
Just saw this
This was the first time I actually enjoyed being on the trainer.
I know i've said it 100x but if you actually want to enjoy your trainer rides get trainerroad. Just look at my ride history on there, I would never do anything like that without that software.

yeah i hear you. my buddy whos racing those ultra enduros with me this year bailed in 35 minutes because his feet were too cold haha.
the 510 is touch screen, theres a screen that shows you your elevation graph, theres a screen where you can set a mph you want to ride at and then 'race' yourself, and a map feature that maps out your ride plus the traditional home screen where you can set 1-9 data blocks on the screen with whatever info you want displayed. also i think since its newer they upgraded the gps stuff and it uses barometric pressure to measure elevation so its more accurate. my buddy has a 500 and our data never coincides. his miles and elevation are always low. and yes the interface is just nicer overall as well

Fucking psychos. I get bummed when I have to go for a run and it dips into the high 50's at night lately.
Oh for Christ sakes. If it's 25 out, I can still break a solid sweat running. No biggie. Too cold to get out on a bike for me, tho.
A few days in the 40's coming up--hoping to get out on the bike then.
I also picked up a nice Hind shell at TJ MAXX for $16.99. Only one little pocket in it, so not so hot for cycling practicality (seat pack will come into play), but it looks like it'll be way more aero than the fleece I was using.

Mounted up:
898g vs 953g of the Ultegra that was on there. I'll take more aero and a 55g weight loss.

I'm guessing the cheapie ebay decals won't last long on the rear wheels. I'm leaving them on the front with resale in mind. It'll likely sell easier with decals in place, assuming I step up to a disc brake/custom frame setup in the next couple of years.
