Yesterday was the first time I've ever done repeats. They were 400meter repeats. Here's my Garmin report: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/414497530
Question about repeats. I'm doing a Hal Higdon Half-Marathon Advanced schedule (thanks again to Mrs. Ironmom for showing me Hal Higdon) and for repeats he said to jog/walk in between. I decided to jog back and forth. He doesn't say how far/long to do it. So I did 400meters, then jogged 400meters, back and forth. Is this what you guys do? Later on I'll be doing 800meter/1600meter repeats. Do you do a "cooldown" of the same distance each time?
Also, I decided to change my racing schedule, I don't feel like doing those 20+ mile runs every week right now. I'm training to do Gasparilla in February. Going to sign up for the "ultra challenge" for it. It is a 15k and 5k on Saturday followed by a half-marathon and 8k on Sunday. Should be pretty awesome.

36ish seconds a mile is no joke! Good luck, sir.
Anyone thinking about White River outside Seattle? Matt may be getting a free entry and I'm thinking of joining him there. I was thinking about it, but I don't think I'll be ready. I grew up like 5 miles from there, so I may come by to watch or volunteer.

Hello, what's this?
Farthest I've run in over 20 years. Felt pretty decent, too. I was curious if I could do 5 comfortably. There's my answer.

Thanks folks! I'm pretty stoked about it.
This is all for the sake of winter cross training while I'm not getting any road miles on the bike (doing 3 1-hour trainer sessions a week indoors). I was sweating balls in windy 27 degree weather today (after the first 1.5 miles or so), so clearly I can do this through the winter. I'm hoping to keep doing it at least once a week during the warmer months so I don't lose what built up.
Just like the bike, clearly the whole "base miles" thing has some serious validity.
We'll see where it goes...

Good job man. You're getting hooked!
Nailed a 20 mile run tonight. Longest to date. Not sure I can train much further on the treadmill watching Netflix. Battery got to 2% my last mile.

20 miles on a treadmill? Good job though man!!
Thanks man. I need to get over the fear of being stranded without resources. Looking for a way to carry fluids and energy packs efficiently.
How you guys run 10+ miles without food/water is beyond me. Damn impressive.

So between having a toddler and spending more time on airplanes than anywhere else for the last three months, I haven't been running. Did the Run for Chocolate 5k today in 25 degree weather. Finished in just over 29 minutes which is four minutes off my PR but fine for hardly running. And I would have been faster had I not had to walk at 2 miles for fear of shitting myself It also wasn't a good race to go PR due to the number of people and the ice to dodge on the road.
Need to get started again now that my travel will die down for a while. Looking to do the St. Pat's 5 miler in under 40 minutes. Did it in 41:20 or so a couple of years ago so should be doable with some discipline.
