Another one from the engagement session two weeks ago.
I haven't been shooting too much recently, guess I'm kind of in a funk.

My wife (not pictured) played in a charity soccer game at her old high school. It was the alumni vs the current soccer team. The alumni won 2-1, but I think the current team took it easy on the old timers.

Did you use manual focus on that shot? If not, use it next time. Exposure looks good (Taking pics of the moon can be a bastard)

Looks like either AF was on or it was shot from a tripod with IS on.
Moon shots = tripod + manual focus + IS off + low ISO (and typically a 1/60to 1/100 speed). Moon shots handheld = manual focus + IS on + higher ISO (and slightly faster shutter speed).
I typically go f stop 6.3-11 depending on what I'm trying. Also have found a polarize helps some.

Very very nice sir. Is that all one shot, or a composite? Around here it seems I can never get the sky and the mountains properly exposed at the same time.
Thanks. One shot. This was maybe 10 minutes before sunset...the sky was fairly dark by this point. The light was so nice. Also, polarizer. (a must)

It sucks because on the small screen it looks good, but once you get it to a computer it is slightly out of focus. exif data is there

Did you use manual focus on that shot? If not, use it next time. Exposure looks good (Taking pics of the moon can be a bastard) The 60D is perfect for moon pics. Turn AF off, use Live view to focus, trigger with timer and or remote to avoid any shake. f/11, 1/10s, ISO 100 usually works, give or take a stop.
I have gotten some awesome pics using the 70-300mm and it is a horrible lens. The "USM" at the end is a bit misleading. Focus is violently fast, loud, and usually off. It can't even hold infinity at 300mm if there is a light breeze, the camera is touched, etc.
I just ordered the Canon 2X III teleconverter to use with my 70-200II, so I should have some good moon pics this time next month. 100mm more reach and guessing quality will be slightly better.

Let me know how you like the 2x III. It's on my 'I want to buy next but don't know' list... It matched with my 100-400 would take some epic moon photos.

don't really care for the pic it self, but i was messing around with my 50mm and got these stars by accident.
settings were
shutter 5" f/14 iso200 50mm. i think it was the shutter. the longer the shutter, the more pronounced they were.

this is the first picture i've ever printed (save for maybe a small one of people). overall pretty happy with it. used Costco photo and each pane is a 16 x 20, so all together it's like 75 inches across. i also did another picture in 20 x 30 (largest size they will do). comparing the two, the print is darker, but i'm ok with that. my only gripe is the frames i chose look a little "college posterish" and give off a pretty good reflection. might have to change that up at some point. although it's not bothering me as much as it did when i first hung them. with the 4 pane pano i didn't want a huge frame in between each shot because i was afraid it would mess up the flow.
anyway. original
hung.
the printed version isn't as dark as it appears here. there is still a fair bit of detail in the mountains, but you can see how it reflects on the left side.

Looks great, although you're right about the framing..
