Good points on the lighting... Hopefully it will look more natural-ish when it's done, that's not really the goal though. I would like to keep the strobe lit look, it gives shape to the car where as natural light really didn't quite show the lines. More on that later, I'll probably do a little image build thread if anyone would be interested in that.

Definitely interested!
Besides the wheels having a few very bright spots the only thing that really bothers me is the slanted fence post over the hood and the one coming out of the hood over the side view mirror.
I'm not sure if you have plans on removing them or what, but what kills the hood line for me is the netting under the slanted one. Makes the hood look taller at first glance.

Yeah, I love your image build threads.
BTW, the timing and composition are fantastic on that shot, the people in the background are perfectly positioned and really give that "See, this is a car for people actively living their dreamy lives" feel.
cheers, scott

Nate will probably agree with you, but I'm not bothered by it since the vertical posts are so evenly spaced leading up from the left side of the frame - my brain at least just accepted that as part of a regular pattern behind the car rather than something growing out of the car.
YMMV, scott

A few buddies got these costumes for halloween, and wanted me to "shoot" em
Surprised we didn't get questioned on "wtf are you guys doing" by the cops

Holy spitting image, batman. Nice.
I need to go back and do this shot again to get perfect symmetry. I was really surprised to see this much artistry on something made to cover up a hole in the sidewalk.

They don't look that bad to me.
I watched this couple try to get a picture of themselves for a minute before introducing myself and snapping a few portraits for them. Just sent the photos to them via e-mail and thought I would share this.

...you should probably put down the bong, lol Nate Or pass it. I get what Scott is saying, dunno if that's good or bad. The center looks almost B&W (the past), compared to the vibrant colors where the first bison is standing. Here's a hole in the wall in a "hole in the wall" town. Framing the shot was a nightmare. Going to head back there soon with a plan. The town is full of urban decay. Sort of depressing, but the garden behind this wall is stunning. Another Hole in the Wall by mjkjr, on Flickr

My main difficulty is food styling. We don't really have a lot of props at home to add the spice needed for a dish, so in a way (in my view), shit gets boring in a hurry.
She used the chopping block to cut the bread and put together the sandwich; I just told her to leave it and let me have at it for a few mins.
Believe it or not, I just wanted to test out the lighting for that shot. I just realised on Friday how I was fucking up all my food shots in the past 6 months because of how I lit it. And yes, that shot was strobed (well, a mixture of strobe and natural light)
To answer your question; I don't really just grab it and shoot. When I see what she makes, I come up with an idea of how I want it shot in my head. So all I do really is to find whatever props to enhance the photo (if necessary); put together the "set"; test the light, wait for her to finish. Put the food on the set and shoot. The actual "shot" takes no more than 3 to 5 minutes.
