It should be titled dusty Nikon F4s.
I didn't realize that the F4 looked so...old.

Last of the analog pro Nikons, but first of the Modern AF pro Nikons, it's in a weird place. Designed by Giugiaro.

That fucker was outside on the dogloo. I noticed it as I was throwing some trash away and ran inside to get my camera before it disappeared, which it later did.
Goodnight sweet princess?

It's this weird light that changes color so fast that it looks white, but when you wave it around in the air, you can see its different color LEDs blinking. So I tied it to a string, started close to the camera, set it on bulb, and started walking backwards, taking up more and more string until the circle waas tight, and then walked back toward the camera doing the same thing in reverse.
Closed shutter, called it done
Also took this one tonight, I really like it.

GB - that is some cool stuff. The images are pretty damn sharp for long exposure!

Here is one that I played with in LR3. I spent a great deal of time work on with the adjustment brush to drop everything but the wolf about -.7 EV.

You're on the right track, but now you need to soften the edges between the wolf and the background (right now they're so sharp that the wolf looks two dimensional and pasted in). In PS, I'd go back to the layer mask, select black and set my brush at 20% opacity with a 0 hardness and lightly work my way around the wolf's outline - I assume you can do something similar in LR.
cheers, scott

I have not figured out the best way to avoid/fix that look with the adjustment brush besides keeping the exposures fairly closes and dropping the opacity of the brush to 50% or less. I will keep tinkering.

Couple things. Shawn (Sean? lol sorry man). Use the feathering on the Lightroom brush, set that to max, it will really help keep your photo looking cohesive.
This is one area that photoshop has the CLEAR advantage over lightroom, and it's why I still use both. What you need to do is get your layers where you want them for the most part (as they are now...) and then right click on your image in lightroom, and hit "edit in Adobe Photoshop CSx). It will automatically open photoshop in full size.
From there its time to layer mask. Use the lasso or whatever else you'd like to cut out the wolf, and put it on a separate layer underneath your original wolf. darken it up like the rest of the image, and then just lightly paint out the opacity toward the edges of the wolf, which will smoothly darken the edges of the wolf so it doesnt 2 dimensionally "pop" so much. Then you just hit "save" in Photoshop (NOT SAVE AS) and it will AUTOMATICALLY re-import into lightroom as a new copy of that image make your final adjustments and then export!
Disclaimer: I'm not that great at photoshop and there is 4896834483853 ways to do this, if Nate, Fil, or Scootergeek chime in further, listen to THEM AND NOT ME.

If you partially go over a spot you've already done with a 20% opacity brush, will it affect that spot? In PS it won't, and that's where masking fur (which is even harder than winter tree branches to mask perfectly) is a godsend.
cheers, scott
In lightroom, one of the things thats cool about it is that you can have ONE ADJUSTMENT brush change like 7 things at once. Exposure, clarity, contrast, sharpness, brightness, saturation, color.
You can paint the area you'd like to adjust, have lightroom HIGHLIGHT the painted area, and then you can use sliders to watch in realtime, what changing each of those does. And it never is permanant. Lightroom stores the beginning points of the brush layer as Points or dots, and when you click the adjustment brush you can call up each painted layer and change whatever aforementioned criteria you want, all over again. You can stack as many layers as you want. If you want to pull away from an already painted layer, you just hold alt, and that will unpaint that area.
Unfortunately what you CANT do is randomly adjust opacity of the the brush mid-layer masking. For example while masking in one layer in photoshop you can paint part of it in in black to eliminate that part of the layer. If you decide you want PART of that layer back, paint in a light grey and it comes back.
You cant do that in lightroom afaik. Once you select brush opacity thats what the opacity is for EVERYTHING youve brushed in.
So its flexible but in a different way from photoshop. Thats why all the REALLY FINE tuning on images (as well as clone stamping, and healing areas, and building walls and other things out of scratch) I always always use the "edit in cs5" function. Its seamless and it works SO well theres no reason to not use it. But not every image requires such fine tuning. 80% of what I do recently, can be handled totally in lightroom.

Thank Kyle. I only have PS elements at the moment so I am unsure if I can select the "edit in elements". What you are saying makes sense, I just need practice. I turned the feather way down to get a solid background but I do need to work around the body with a feather on the brush.
Do you use auto-mask with the brush set to max feather?
Thanks, Shawn
