had an awesome day today...got to see a private collection for class. guy's dad knew Ansel and had a bunch of personally noted/signed prints, etc. also had a bunch of other great prints (imogen cunningham, dorothea lange, weston, sexton) that we got to physically handle and look at while he talked about them...
this one's for you, scott. i asked him about the extra 1/8" or so at the top and the damaged negative...he said his print is likely after the damage, but i dont' know if it has the extra bit at the top or not...

my buddy, who's the manager at the bar/club I shoot at on the weekends, asked me to take pics at his daughters first birthday party. Couldn't really set up any good pics because I was chasing my two kids around. Here are some pictures:

thanks Bill. She's turning 2 this weekend. Time sure does fly!
Here's what I did today. I played hooky from work and rode my bike into DC. First time I rode my bike in like 4 years. My legs felt like they were going to EXPLODE! I know these may be a little cliche, but I've wanted to do this for quite some time:

It was actually a pretty simple mix of mostly burning out the background because it was too bright. I also didn't adjust the contrast anywhere other than around the guy just to keep him as the focus.
Here's the original as a b&w.

i like the pop of the guy, but the top vignette is looking flat...i would even crop some off the top to balance it out. the slightly off horizon line is also bothering me. nice title

dude walked in the photo then walked off, couldn't get him to stay still long enough for the 4 second exposure... woulda been a really cool shot...

This is a shitty attempt, but I messed with it a bit in PS. I'm no Fil, but I got a magazine the other day about landscape photography. It showed a few tricks on how to get wicked cloud/sun shots without using the underexposed land portion of the image. So I cut the imagine in half and overexposed the lower portion so the trees and river should show up a bit better, but kept the early morning sky (That part is untouched).. I then used the eraser tool to combine the two layers together so it wasn't blatantly obvious what I was trying to do

Pretty well. Just need to make a few extra "upoints" is all. Download the trial, and see for yourself.
