First timed 5k tomorrow. Would really love to get under 25 minutes but not sure if that's happening.
You can do it.. Just keep pushing and telling yourself it's only three miles or so
I just did my best three mile time.. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/70087487 Ran 23:23.. prior to that my best was 24:43

Was shooting for under 25 minutes and snuck in by about 10 seconds! Having done some speed work helped - I knew I wouldn't die even when my heart felt like it wanted to explode. The course was in my neighborhood - literally ran past my front door - so it was streets I knew well. Only really tough part was the 4th k which was pretty much all uphill. We had run pretty hard in the earlier downhill parts of the race knowing that it would be uphill at the end and I was hurting pretty good when that hill came around.
When my wife and I registered there was only one chip left and they gave it to me without us really thinking about it. Should have given it to my wife - she finished with me and would have placed 5th in her age group based on my time. This wasn't a huge race as it was its first year, and she only missed 3rd by about 20 seconds. She told me she had the gas to drop me in the last 2k and would have done it had she been wearing the chip, so she might have been able to place.

Any chance it's your shoes? The "experts" at my local running store had me in some Asics that the people at RoadRunnerSports said were a horrible shoe for me. Too much $$$$ and rotating through 3 pair of running shoes this year and I am good to go.
Give me a few more years of serious marathon training before it's triathlon time
Still waiting for the road bike we ordered for my wife to come in.

Sounds like a good plan. I cannot believe how focused on marathon training I am this year.

6miles, 9min pace
was holding steady at 8.15/8.30 until the wind hit me at the washington monument and onto and around capitol hill
That sounds pretty fuckin cool getting to run around monuments and shit..
Just got back from a 6.4 mile run @ 8:47 pace. I mean to go 6 miles, but took a wrong turn and added .4 miles to my trip lol. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/71261749
I didnt warmup well enough or something because my left calf started to tighten up only 2 miles in. I probably could have gone a bit faster or farther or both because I dont feel winded or out of energy at all right now.

First time posting in this thread for a very long time.
I've been training for a half on March 20 (2 weeks from today) and I ran 11 miles yesterday @ 8:01/mile. Felt pretty good after wards. Hoping to break the 1:45 mark for the half.

Good luck on the run. I'd do it...but I'm still not happy about my times. Weather is supposed to be perfect.
