haha we'd be honored broken, the install wasn't that hard. Also we screwed up a little bit where a corner is showing but you can only see it if you look at it at all angels. Was nerve wrecking cutting into fenders even tho tony did most of the cutting cause i'm a pussy haha. Forgot to mention to use touch up paint to prevent rust on the cut surfaces, i didn't have any VSM so i used tonys EBP touch up on my VSM lol

You can buy the Honda OEM plugs if you want, they are for the prelude i believe. I used radio shack spade connectors. I'm not sure what the price is off the top of my head, but you buy a package of like 10 for a few bucks. Sorry I can't be of more help. If you search for this same thread in the General Forum, you might find that some people used the Honda plugs and some used the spades.

Could you show me the wiring diagram for NOT using the OEM harness please. I dont want pay the exra bucks. Haha. If you could, Id appreciate that. Woot!
matt
it's actually pretty simple. it doesn't matter which plug taps what wire from the socket of the sidemarker. as long as one wire is tapped into the red wire and the other is tapped into the green. that's if you want them to stay on along with your parking lights. if you want them to only blink with your turn signals, then you will only tap one, i forgot which, i think i stated above which one, and the other wire to tap is the ground wire (black). hope that helps. not sure if that's what you were looking for. good luck.

Good job guys. I'm impressed that you finally did it after all that talk. I told you it wasn't that difficult. The nibblers work pretty goo, huh?
Way to go on the write up. I never have the patiuence to document all my DIYs, so this should help everybody out.
Very very nice write up you guys and easy to understand, If i were to grade this as a college professor I'd give it a A++++!! . Hopefully I can get it started also.

hmm you need some wire T taps, 4 two on each side marker, and you need some wire, after that you need some spade connecters the ones that tony posted up you need about 4 of those too lol. The nibbler was honestly personal preference, if your good with a dremel you can use that, but we found it to be more accurate and you have more control over the cutting with the nibbler. It works like a holepuncher, but it punchs squares of metal out, so you put it where you wanna punch out and squeeze.

i went to the honda dealer by me and the parts counter said he didn't think anything they had fit the connector. easier/cheaper to use the spade connectors and they fit snug too. i also sodered the wires off of the turn signals instead of cutting and splicing... haven't checked behind the markers since i did it but they're still working fine....

I just got my sidemarkers and was wondering how these things stay in place?? is it just the clips on the sidemarker that holds them secure? so when i cut the hole and put the sidemarker in....will it just clip in and hold onto the fender? thanks guys.
pretty much, that is why the hole you cut needs to be very exact so that the sidemarker holds to the fender securely.

Yeah...they are easy to steal. Somebody swiped mine (I'm the OG sidemarker diy'er, Kenny and Tony rode my nuts on this one. ) so I picked up some smoked clear knockoffs that look better with my black and white car.
I don't think you could do anything from the outside, but I suppose that you could pull the fender off and rig up a bracket or something.

No, we did not use gaskets on our sidemarkers, the fit was close enough to the frame that water didn't really get in. I've had them on through a rainy season and have not had any rust problems. The coating of touch up paint on the raw metal should be enough to prevent rust, but if you can get the gaskets, and you'd feel more comfortable with them, go ahead and put them on. Trixiem and I live in Southern California where rain is not really that big of an issue. Sorry, can't really help you with the headlight problem, sounds like you might have to get a non-US headlight bulb for those JDM headlights. A couple of aftermarket stores sell them, I can't say which ones off the top of my head right now though.

thx for the write up, i did this last night and it turned out great... i found the dremel easier to use if you've got a strong/steady hand.
and i did a good job at breaking my temp gauge needle when i dropped the CTR bezel in... had to order a new gas/temp assy.
pics are from a nextel i860 cam phone so the quality isn't that great.

I need to know where to splice the third wire. Leave oit dangling? Or should I just use the dang female crimp connectors even though I am afraid they will fall off?
*edit* they came in today, stupid thing is I was excited because I thought before I opened the box that it would be the cam plate bolts that I need to make the car run. instead they are the damn side marker lights. DOH!
*edit again* Ok, two of the three wires are green with white stripes and the third is all black, somebody help me with this. I assume that i will use the green wires to tap and just leave the black one alone.
ok i'm having the same problem ^ he is. only to make matters more difficult, i'm trying to wire my ctr city lights in too. nothing is working right and i am running outa fuses

The solution that Chris Law did looks like he ended up going with our crimp connectors and not using the CTR OEM connector plug. However, with my understanding of wiring (which is limitied) I would assume that the two green wires each tap into the two "live" wires. One green would tap the red (parking lights) and the other would tap the green (turn signal) and then the black would be tapped into the ground wire. I'm not sure how this would work though, since that would allow power to always be passing through the light and I think it would just always stay on when you had your headlights on. The reason you're blowing fuses is probably because you haven't been tapping the black wire, it needs to be grounded. You also might want to consider upping the fuse value since you'll be tapping both your city lights and your sidemarker lights, although there shouldn't really be any reason too, just make sure that nothing is making contact with other wires. The option that you can do that follows our wiring, would be to remove the OEM plugs and just connect to the two metal tabs coming out of the bottom of the light plug. This would mean that only one wire would go to either red or green on your car, and the other would tap into the black (ground). As for your city lights, you would do the same thing, except you would definitely tap the red wire so that it came on only with your parking lights. I've never seen a city light blink, and there's no need for it to do so since you have a turn signal in the headlight housing already. And then the other wire would tap into the ground.
Sorry I've been MIA on this. I have no idea where Kenny (Trixiem) is, so I don't think he is going to chime in on this issue. He is more knowledgable about electrical unfortunately. I hope that this helps. Good luck.

im right here. can you take a picture of the plug and pm it to me or upload it on here. it also confuses me as to why there would be three wires coming from a single filament bulb my assumption would be to find the two live wires that actually controls the bulb... try wiring up a 9v to two of the wires to see if it lights up, then hook those wires up to the turn singal for usdm, or turn signal and park signal for JDM goodness.
As for the city light, tap both of those wires to the red(parkinglight) and ground from the headlight harness... sorry im so vague right now cause i have no access to a car for a short period of time.
i'll check back here after i look around, i think i have one of those plugs too actually. so hang tight.

it was alot easier than it even looks on the write up. just go for it. measure twice cut once. since then my car is no longer here. RIP.

ninja edit: the city light depends on how you want it done. they way i am told, is that the city lights are on when your parking lights are on. They are not on during the day(IE daytime running lights) and they certainly do not blink. To get the desired effect.you can wire it up to DRL using a relay. it will turn on when your car is on, and off when your car is off.
