I just bought the UDM and I am looking to get pads and some products but I am having a hard time deciding. I was thnking of going Poorboys then I was thinking Menzerna. I am not a detailing noob, but I am when it comes to using a machine. Im just looking for something that is easy to work with for my first time. Any advice/suggestions would be great.

Those are really good pads.

Chemical Guys Pro Polish is the shit as well. I like Pete's 53 wax as well for dark colored cars.

Give them a call and talk to Paul. Tell him John and Jeremy from San Diego reccomended you. He'll take care of ya \:\)

Arent those the same people that put out Poor Boys?

What color pads and how many do you think ill need? Im not really going to do any older cars. Mostly newer ones if that helps at all.

That's a highly debated topic, but from what I've heard is true. ;\)

I'd just get their MPT pads. Yellow for cutting, white for polishing and blue for finishing. I use them on my PC and have been happy with the results.

CG or Poorboy's is a very good and safe choice. Menzerna's should be used with a more (machine) experienced detailer. Also, if you go onto http://www.autogeek.net, and search for the Lake County Pads, those are foolproof and are highly recommended. Snag the Poorboy's SSR2.5, SSR1.0, for swirl removal (the 3.0 is VERY intense and should not be used by a noob machine user).

I have always used Griot's Garage orange pads for polish, although I have a Lake County blue pad as well. So long as it's a "safe" or "idiot-proof" pad, any of the known companies will work just fine.

Poor Boys SSR1 with white pad for cars with minimal scratches, blemsihes etc
Poor Boys WPP with Blue pad?
then I dont know...

Poorboy's World EX Sealant with Carnauba
or
Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant

not sure any advice?

Yeah, buy it from Chemical Guys since it's all the same shit. You can buy that stuff by the gallon and save money/split it up with friends, etc.

Kind of not the answer I was looking for. I wondering if what i had listed where the right things to use with each other. Also wondering what I should use for my last 2 steps.

Thanks Again!

LOL my bad.
You can try the polish with the blue pad, but I don't think you'll get the results you want since it's a finishing pad. I'd use a white pad with the PP.

You really only need a sealant, but can always throw on a coat of wax fir a little extra pop.

I'd go with the EXP over the other. However, Id also recommend getting a nice carnauba to top off the sealant with. Lusso Oro, P21S (new or old formula) will both work wonders. Both can be had at: http://www.detailersdomain.com

Thanks again!

i actually live a few miles from chemical guys near LAX airport... really small shop, but they do good work... bought the pro polish, but have yet to try it out...

ive always been a fan of Megs Speed glaze #80, or #83 DACP if i need more cutting power.

then use NXT as the sealant since its a synthetic... then if im bored, i top it all off with old school S100 (same as P21s carnuba).

All done with a porter cable of course, and megs or LC pads of different densities.

then if im doing a quick detail, i'll use Klasse All-in-one, which is perhaps my favorite product because it cleans and waxes damn well.

i am slowly becoming a fan of Clearkote products, like their red moose stuff and machine polishes, for black cars.

its their "all in one" tho... or thats what they told me.. which i usually dont like because i dont want any of the sealing/waxing stuff in my polish.

MEgs #80 speed glaze is a pure polish, and so is #83 DACP... menerna 106FF i think it was called, is damn good polish that cuts really well... but i like #83 the most if my car has some crazy swirls. 80 and menzerna are about the same, but menzerna is perhaps a little easier to use.

this pro polish i bought from CG, i would assume is about the same as my klasse... but i cant wait to use it... sucks im not in town the next 2 weekends to detail the car

I don't know why they said it's an AIO... oh well. I use the Pro Polish as a polish then top it off with a some Jetseal 109 or with some wax.

Looks great on the hood of my Firehawk. I topped it off with Pete's '53 as well. Over the summer I'll apply it to the whole car. Haven't had the chance to test the durability of it since the car sits in the garage most of the time.
