I just took delivery of my new Si and am getting ready for the first wash. This is my first black car, so I'm being pretty careful. Someone has highly recommended Zaino Bros to keep it sparkling. Did this car come stock with clearcoat paint? And what do you think about Zaino?

Thanks,
Billy

Zaino is a very good system. The best, no. Every car that I know of in production today comes with a clear coat on top of the color. For you, Id recommend using a two bucket washing system with Grit Guards. Fill one bucket up with soapy water, and the other up with regular water. When you go to rinse out your mitt, do NOT put it back into the soapy water bucket, instead rinse it off in the bucket with just water. This way you keep all the particles, road grime, grit, etc separate from your wash.

As far as which wax/sealant/polish to use, well that's really personal preference. With the way you asked the question, Im going to go out on a limb and assume you arent real savvy on car care. Not to put you down, just gotta know where I am. If this is the case, I STRONGLY recommend buying a Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbital Buffer which does a MUCH better job than a hand polish ever can at laying on even coats, undoing unsightly swirls/scratches, etc. Also, for Swirl Removal I can also recommend from personal use (on hundreds of customers cars) the Poorboy's line of swirl removers, which on a black car, youre bound to need.

An outstanding kit, although more than you were expecting in price Im sure can be found here:

Yes, its 260.00, BUT that will give you everything you need (almost) to keep your car looking good. After that youll just need a good wax and sealant, car wash, grit guards, and a few Microfiber towels, and youll be set. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask me.

Thanks, Matt. Not new, but I actually appreciate you answering as such. This is my first Honda, and my first dark colored vehicle. Since I got rid of my GT about 20 years ago (hand waxed weekly here in TX), everything else has just been a plain old pickup. So this is my first with a dark car and I knew it took some extra effort. I've read your other guides, great stuff! I have been leaning toward the exact kit you linked from recommendations from other sites as well as this one.
