Nice car. I have some newb questions cause i know NOTHING about Turbo. Im getting the 18G kit in June, and need to know a few things.
1) Where does the FMU go in the car. I mean is it a computer or just a little box. Im guess its kinda like a piggy back system?
2) What exactly is the downpipe? and whats a test pipe?
3) Is there any performance difference with the Type 24 / 31 ic? Only running @5-6PSI, then maybe higher later?
4) Is the Blue Box set at one setting or can you adjust it at all??
With the Hondata FMU can i do the tuning myself?

I hear people saying that they are running rich at low boost. And that the blue box makes you run rich. How can you adjust that not to run rich? tuning? and also, fuel injectors. Is it fine to just get bigger injectors to start with? Im thinking that the FMU is only going to use a certain amount of fuel anyways correct? im new at this. thanks.

Check the sig. for pics. As for fuel, the blue box will do fine for the set boost, any higher and you can toast some pistons. Save up for a EMS, like hondata or AEM. This will definatley be the best way to go to cure fuel probs. Also, use the search button. It has helped me alot to figure out my setup

when u get your kit do not install it until you get proper fuel management the blue box no matter what any one says does not really cut it, invest in the hondata s200 system because as every one knows the si isnt really that fast on 6psi u WILL want to crank it up i would recamend bigger injectors im going with 550's soon because my duity cycle is maxing out at even 8psi, but make sure you get colder plugs (ngk brk7e) some msd wires, your blow off valve, definitely get a intercooler no matter what you do get a fuel pressure guage, better fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator and a diecent boost controller, even with hondata i still wouldnt recamend running more than 7psi on stock internals hell i fried the crap out of mine at 6 although the greddy kit is a fairly complete kit most definitely everything you need is NOT included but hats off to greddy for a badass spooling turbo i dont get any lag at all at 10psi hope this helped also if im wrong about anything please some one correct me, later mike ^_^

Greddy turbo kit
type 24 ic
type xs-RFL bov
ITR cams
ITR ported manifold
2.5 inch pipeing downpipe back
DC short shifter
I plan on running 8 psi, and wanted to know if i could keep the blue box and be safe or will i have to get the hondata s200 with boost?
Anyone with a similar setup? If so what did you dyno and what did you run in the 1/4?

Howdy guys... i am ready to purchase a Greddy kit, it seems the nicest alternative to a lot of money. Nothing like a lisenced dealer, eh? After about six months of research, i have come to terms with my fiscal limitations, and what is available.
I plan on never touching anything inside the motor. I am going to pick up the Greddy system (intercooled is the aim, will the intake temps be too hot to drive it without the intercooler??) and slap it on.
I would like to run the stock Greddy unit untill i can afford putting all the engine manegement and fuel breathing devices on the car and pay modacar or the latter to dyno tune it. But that is just me hoping for upwards of 200whp.
Realisticly, i will be driving around with the stock Greddy kit, and i seem to be very happy about it As far as the breathing of the ass of the car, my aim is to purchase the rear section of an exhaust, then do the custom piping from the cat back, and i can make my own cat replacement.
I'm planning on taking off the stock piping into the stock muffler, and welding on the straight 3" or 2.5" (whichever i end with, and i also heard once that the stock exhaust is 2.5, just poorly routed. That seems awful big for such a low displacement engine.) to the muffler itself, then adding a flange. Is the resonance chamber where the acceptor is large enough to support a 3" inlet? a 2.5" one?
This will allow me a lot of flexibility for smogging the vehicle, as well as keeping the noise down. I like the idea of changing out my 'entire' exhaust, as opposed to a baffle. That and the stock exhaust would be less restrictive with 3" piping or the like.
I think that sums up everything, there are a lot of indirect and implied questions, feel free to read the post a few times and let me know what up
Thanks guys, and happy boostin, eh?

Yes indeed i do live in California. I suppose the IC deal was just me being cheap, i have no problem waiting for the extra five or seven hundred dollars. But as far as the exhaust goes, the idea is that i will have a full 3" mandral bent exhaust, with a nice large canister on the end, but it will be attached behind or in front of the axel (wichever i can mount it better on and still be able to remove it easily) so that i can switch between the stock muffler (with the 3" into the muffler, or if all else fails, 3"-stock collector) for a large difference in asthetics, which I think will be miniscule next to the sound deadning... thanks again, i like feedback

Question for SoCal people with Greddy kit + IC + BOV:
I'm pretty sure the above would pass the sniffer, but has anyone passed the visual? Or are they asses about it?

question for the greddy turbo people out there, i was wondering if the greddy turbo manifold can be mated with any other turbines. It looks like it can be mated with a t3/t4 turbo but just wanted to know if they line up? If they do please let me know, also anyone out there planning to upgrade their turbo? What would you go for?

I figured out my own question. You could just have an extra charge pipe without BOV and swap that in easily. The same would go for the IC. Just take that out and run the stock pipe from turbo to charge pipe. This sound good?

Greddy People, just have a quick question.
I'm going to be running a greddy turbo on a b16 in an EG hatch. I was thinking of getting the SP2 exhaust. If I'm running at stock boost levels, is a 2.25" piping for an exhaust too restrictive for a greddy turbo setup? Thanks for your help.

To answer the question about welding the BOV to the intercooler piping asked a little ways up, yes you do.

quick question for you GReddy guys....how much boost can you run befoer you recommend sleeving your block? because the shop i use say they would have to pull my block and ship it to get sleeved, but they can do rids and pistons there...so what do you guys think? would forged 9.5:1 or 9:1 pistons with forged rods be enough to run stock to 10 psi safely???

Just pulled off a 13.3 on my Greddy kit...although about the only things left from the kit are turbo/mani and charge pipe. Everything else has been upgraded...
