'95 Euro Civic VTi hatch (b16a2 stock)
CTR cams, 10.6CR, adjustable intake cam gear at +1.5, DC 4-1 (not JDM), 55mm custom exhaust, free flow cat, Hondata IMG, Hondata S200 tuned by me ->put down 171whp (dynapack). I believe around 165-167whp on a dynojet.
I sold this engine and got a B18c6 (same as B18c5 but with JDM pistons->11.1:1 compression). With a DC 4-1 JDM, 60mm custom exhaust, free flow cat Hondata IMG and Hondata S300 tuned by me, it put down 183whp (dynapack) but way more torque and high rpm power.
For reference, at 8500rpm the b18c6 still outputs 176whp while the b16a2 had fallen below 158whp. I believe the difference is due to the ITR intake manifold (high rpm power) and the JDM DC (compared to the b16 version)

95 GSR motor, 100% stock bottom end, Alaniz competition ported head, Skunk2 Stage 1 cams, Portflow/ITR springs, ported GSR manifold, JDM 4-1 (cleaned up inside) full 2.5 inch exhaust no cat, AEM CAI, adjustable camgears, 390 injectors, tuned with Crome back in the day before it was Crome (years ago) and this was lots of dyno time. This was when I switched from a VAFC and chipped ECU to full ECU control over fueling and spark. I later cleaned it up in the midrange, but can't find the file (it made the same peak HP).

No need to feel that way. The mustang dyno seems to read lower than other dynos.

Is the Z6 VTEC? If not, could that explain the torqueyness?
It is a VTEC motor.

dyno'd my car last night
B17 w/ first gen b16 pistons, CTR cams, s200 hondaa, intake, fully stock exhaust.
156hp/115tq @ 7200
I believe the exhaust bottle neck is stopping it from making power pas that.

Some impressive numbers up there, I have a fully built b20 block, and b16 head. Bored .20 over, sleved, stroker kit, pnp/3avj head, springs, retainers, cams, the whole works, and it put down over 230, I lost my dyno sheet when I baught a new computer, but it is was impressive.

RS Machines in Torrance, CA makes RS ITR cast pistons in different sizes now. 84, 84.5mm, 85...etc., they are basically the ITR piston but in larger diameter to fit larger blocks hope that helps out

I dont know man the motor was just strong I guess its a JDM motor so maybe something else was done to it when we got it.I am planning on putting bigger cams and CTR pistons see if I can better the numbers but never know what I ll find when I pull it apart. The uncorrected HP was 198whp this was done with an open header but I dont know how much of a diffrence that made.

Thanks dude, it runs very well now, nice and smooth... Also reliable which is the whole idea. I'm not trying to get all crazy here, I'm happy with what it makes right now, I just want a *little* more without sacrificing reliability.

Why small cams? More cam is always better. Can you not rev high enough with the LS crank to take advantage of Skunk S2's? All you should need for the fuel system is a decent (not Walbro) pump and a set of cheap DSM injectors, right?
You can usually find those for near-free and send them to this local guy, fuel system done: http://www.witchhunter.com/

Skunk2 is about as beefy as I can go without rebuilding the whole valvetrain. AGAIN, lol.
edit: and yea, some people will be all "Don't be a pussy you can rev it higher than 8, you can get bigger cams, blah blah blah..." But I don't want my shit to blow up again so I'm taking it easy. 185-190 would be plenty for me with an NA setup.

Nate, there is a lot of technical information about valvesprings out there on a forum writeup that I will try to dig it up and post it. The engineering speak boils down to this: A really stiff valvespring is only necessary with a high lift AND high engine speed application, and a medium stiffness valvespring is fine on either a high lift/medium engine speed app or non-aggressive cam with high engine speed. So your 9000-rpm safe ITR springs should be fine with higher lift and duration like the BCIII's or S2S2.
Not enough fuel pump is a bad situation. Especially because at different temperatures and voltages your pump will max out at a different pressure/flow level, so the 'plateaued' area of your fuel map where you start really opening up the inject flow in msec, will have huge variances in running lean to rich or vice-versa. If you open the injector pulsewidth up and AFR does not go richer, time to back off. Easily lose an engine that way.

Good to know thanks! Put down 183/135 last night @ RREV... Gotta just wait and save for a while before I do anything...

B18C1 GSR rods+crank w/ PCT's PR3 head BuddyClub springs/retainers Toda C's Custom fab craptech intake ITR IM/72mm TB/ITR header/test pipe/T1R mid pipe/ITR axle back RC 310's/Walbro 255lph pump Tuned on Power FC. Not to be confused with that piggyback shit. Making 172/131, need to replace my foam filter with a K&N, need a better header, and use my T1R axle back if I want to be in the 190 range. I wasnt making any power past 8k lol. BCIII+'s idle fine (Toda's idle fine too with the right amount of vacuum.) Car would start to pick up after 3000 rpms. I was averaging 25 mpg street+highway, and around 29 on the highway.
Interesting. I made 191 with ITR cam's on a c5 block with PCT's. Stock injectors (91% duty cycle) and stock pump.
