Been a long time since on the forum!! LONG TIME. Looks like a lot of threads dying out, but maybe I get some traction and input here with a idea I would like to pursue... If not here then have people migrated to a new forum?
Sold my '00 EBP Civic Si fully built turbo back like in like 2005 and miss that thing frequently. Frequently enough that I feel like a nostalgia build and get me another now that I have a career and some $$ to back it up, more so than in '00-'05
THE PLAN: find a reasonable EM1 on bring a trailer, FB, wherever and completely re-do the thing.
Engine plan: Fully built K series Turbo. What do most people suggest for higher power and tq with AWD? K20 vs K24? Is this something that it would be too crazy to just put down the cash for a 4P racing or Drag Cartel build?? My hope would be to have a streetable/driveable car that absolutely crushes.. 800 whp maybe?
Engine Accessories: Intake manifold, GATO DC? Exhaust manifold.. custom? Fuel system, this was always lacking in my prior build so it won't be in this one. Does one need to plan for E85 in this type of build with these expectation?
Engine Mgmt: Back in my day it was just hondata and maybe some haltech, but whats the standard these days? Any one in Colorado have recommendations where to get tuning for a project like this? Back in my day it was Paragon, Trenz, and ImportSports.
Transmission: Would a stock K series trans hold anticipated power? Would it be crazy to go sequential for a street build/weekend cruise car? I see quaife's for like $15k.. that seem like a lot. How does this all work if I wanted to go AWD? What AWD system seems like the best? S1 Built vs Hub City vs ...?
Exterior: Always dreamed of a Championship white '00 Si, but man the EBP just slaps. Would prob need a paint refresh. I would probably go stockish appearing, just get a lower front lip/skirts/etc. Maybe dry carbon hood, wrapped roof..
Exhaust: How in the F do I run a nice large bore exhaust to say an N1 can with the AWD system there? Could the underbody be custom tweaked to make it fit along side the drive shaft? I wouldn't want it to hang superr low and be visible or scrape everything. I see hood and side exits all the time, but how is that even remotely street legal?
Interior: Roll cage, Bride vs Recaro seats, Spoon cluster.. who knows.
Wheels: Gonna have to be Volk CE28N variant for me.. 17 vs 18"
Suspension: Want it loww. Back in the day Tein were top of the line, but whats the market like now? Does it matter or does this change with AWD?
Brakes: Are the Spoon calipers I see overrated? Or would you go Endless, Project Mu, AP racing, Baer, Brembo, etc? Would prob move over to a 5 lug pattern front and back. Does the master cylinder need to be upgraded too?
Ok.. I think thats all my thoughts now. Soo hoping to get some feed back on some of these thoughts. Maybe not all at once. Also what does it seem like this would cost? I'm thinking I've got a nearly 100k project on my hands.
